Interview Follow Up
Why Do I Care?
A lot has changed in the job interview process over the years — virtual interviews, assessments, etc. But one thing that has not changed is the need to send a thank-you note to your interviewer(s) to express appreciation for the opportunity to meet with them.
A Talent Inc. survey reports that 68% of hiring managers said receiving a thank-you email or note impacts their decision-making. Sending an email immediately after or within 24 hours of a job interview is crucial if the hiring manager will be making a quick decision. Be sure to follow-up with your interviewer on the status of the role regularly, at least once a week.
Thank You Note
It’s strongly suggested that an email be sent. However, your thank-you could be made on LinkedIn or other social platforms as well. A handwritten note is great if you are in proximity of their office to drop it off.
Communicate
Update your recruiter often. They are your cheerleader! They need to know where you are in the job search process so they can continue to help you achieve the highest levels of success. Often, once the interviewing process starts, the company may start communicating with you directly. This is fine, if it happens, but don’t forget to share the latest news with your recruiting partner on this journey!
