During the Interview

The Interview Process

Interviewing for a job is just as much for you as it is for the company. This should be an exchange of information. During this exchange, you should be as straightforward and authentic as possible. That doesn’t mean you should wing it; instead, you should have your stories readily in mind to share. The lack of adequate planning and preparation for an interview is the greatest single error in the interviewing process.

Today, most interviews have a behavioral/situational approach which assesses whether a candidate has experienced a relevant situation, how they acted during the situation, and how they define certain concepts, such as high-pressure situations or challenging tasks.

Behavioral Interviews

Behavioral questions are best for roles that require communication, problem-solving, decision-making, leadership and teamwork. Don’t get caught up in shock — you’ve prepared for this! Remember your 5 ‘S’ formula that you prepared, based on your resume and your accomplishments. This is your space to tell your story. Your stories make you memorable. Answer the question and show your personality!
